VISIONS/SERVICES FOR THE BLIND AND VISUALLY IMPAIRED-CENTER ON BLINDNESS
VISIONS/Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired, incorporated in 1926, provides free services, programs and training for people who are blind or visually impaired of all ages and support for their families. Training is offered in the home for newly legally blind individuals seeking to maintain their independence and mobility training is offered in the community. Blind job seekers receive training and assistance to acquire paid employment. Blind high school youth attend a summer residential pre-college program held at Manhattanville College and a summer residential youth transition or 15 week pre-employment transition services program (age 18-21) held at VISIONS Center on Blindness (VCB) in Rockland County. Summer and weekend programs are held year round at VCB for families with blind children and blind adults and older adults. In addition to in home training, special events are held in Westchester.
