Serves the needs of Nassau and Suffolk Counties' low and moderate income families by: promoting job creation through economic development; promoting housing development and housing rehabilitation by providing assistance to help organizations in low and moderate income areas improve their neighborhoods; offering professional career opportunities for innovative housing and community development efforts; enhancing public awareness of fundamental housing issues and needs of low and moderate income families; maintains a community development department that provides loans to qualifying small businesses and loans/grants to economically disadvantaged persons wishing to start or expand their businesses.
