Provides assistance to the low income community and to the community at large in organizing issues which affect the community such as housing, education, employment opportunities, drugs and youth violence. Provides support services for basic needs and advocacy to low income residents of Nassau. Offers information, referrals, transportation and emergency assistance. Funds Community Action Programs in Freeport, Glen Cove, Hempstead, Port Washington, Rockville Centre, Lakeview, Roosevelt. Also offers MLK Scholarship Program, Displaced Homemakers Program, Job Readiness/Job Placement, Summer Youth Programs, Head Start Child Development, Downstate New York Healthy Start Program, College Tours to Historically Black Colleges.
