ITHACA COMMUNITY HARVEST

Ithaca Community Harvest (ICH), a collaborative community initiative that emerged to sustain and expand the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Snack Program, connects community members with our local farms to exchange volunteer labor for produce. Activities include:- Provides produce to BJM's Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Snack Program- Provides fresh seasonal produce to supplement the snacks and hot meals served at Greater Ithaca Activities Center (GIAC) and Southside Community Center (SSCC)- Organizes field trips to our local farms so that students can meet the farmers and appreciate how and where their snacks are grown- Invites BJM, GIAC and SSCC families to the farms to harvest produce- Offers affordable "market boxes" of seasonal produce to BJM, GIAC and SSCC families in the fall- Collaborates with Gardens 4 Humanity and the Youth Farm Project to obtain additional fresh produce and support their educational objectives
