Offers residents, ages 21 and over, the literacy skills needed to successfully negotiate positive outcomes for themselves and their children. Designed to meet the post-secondary education as well as the employment needs of Hempstead residents, the Adult and Community Education Program offers traditional literacy classes (ESOL, GED, ABE, Citizenship), information and support services at various sites located throughout the community. Educational case management, individual and group counseling are also offered to meet the needs of students. Referrals to other community sites operating during the day and evenings are made based on need and availability. In addition The Adult Education Program also offers Academic Intervention Services, designed to provide quality educational tutoring in a safe, positive, and nurturing environment for children between the ages of 5-14 whose parents are actively enrolled and attending the Hempstead Adult and Community Education Program. Courses are held at various locations through the district. Call for detailed information for all courses and services offered.
