NYSCB's Vocational Rehabilitation Program offers a pool of talented, reliable people who are trained in a variety of different fields, including hospitality, manufacturing, and office management. NYSCB's Vocational Rehabilitation Program can provide an employee who is losing their sight with technical assistance to adapt to their new impairment without sacrificing their career. NYSCB counselors work with employees and employers to obtain the appropriate adaptive equipment, mobility training, or reader services that can assist blind employees in retaining their position and performing job duties efficiently.

Responsible for programs and services involving foster care, adoption, child protective services, operating the Statewide Central Register for Child Abuse and Maltreatment, preventive services for children and families, services for pregnant adolescents, and protective programs for vulnerable adults. OCFS is also responsible for the functions of the State Commission for the Blind and Visually Handicapped and coordinates response to the needs of Native Americans on reservations and in communities.
