Offers a course for those interested in becoming a heavy equipment operator. Nassau BOCES has partnered with The LEARN Center to provide you with a broad base of knowledge through classroom instruction and practical experience in the operation of heavy equipment. Training and certification is available on the backhoe, bulldozer, excavator, front-end loader and skid-steer. Topics include safety, maintenance and the practical operation of the equipment. Upon registration, you will be given the contact information to schedule your class. The full 84-hour curriculum consists of twelve, 7-hour days. A basic one-day class is also available. Instruction is based on the content of the test, which includes Math, Reading, Writing, Social Studies and Science. Our programs for Adults with Disabilities providing training for adults and youth who are looking to enter the job force for the first time or want to make a career change.
