Eligibility

Follows Mental Hygiene Law's eligibility requirements. Must: 1. Be an adult, 18 years or older; 2. Have a diagnosed mental illness; 3. Due to noncompliance, have experienced 2 or more hospitalizations or incarcerations in the previous 3 years; or at least one act or threat of violence in the previous 4 years; 4. Need AOT to avoid re-hospitalization; 5. Be likely to benefit. Service Area: Niagara County.

Description

Works with individuals living with mental illness who have been non-compliant with past treatment which has led to multiple hospitalizations, threats, or acts of violence toward self or others. If an individual is not able to be engaged in appropriate services, a court petition may be filed to request an order for AOT. Recipients are monitored for treatment compliance and to ensure provision of appropriate services.
