Victim/Witness Services Bureau - Erie County District Attorney
Provides comprehensive supportive services to crime victims, witnesses and their families. Advocates help victims understand the criminal justice process and their rights, assess their needs, and offer assistance with a trauma-informed, holistic approach. Services may include, but are not limited to: - Case management through updates and advocacy - Supportive counseling, crisis intervention and safety planning - Emotional support and accompaniment to court proceedings and prosecutor meetings - Assistance with New York State Office of Victim Services compensation claim applications - Assistance with victim impact statement submissions - Post-conviction support and education on probation, correctional and parole processes - Information and referrals to outside agencies - Specialized training to assist families of homicide victims, child victims, domestic/intimate partner violence victims, elderly victims and special needs victims
