Any individual that performs tattoo, microblading, permanent make-up, or body piercing services in Nassau County is required to hold a valid Tattoo/Body Piercing Artist Certification issued by the Nassau County Department of Health. The Artist Certification is valid for three years from the date of issuance, and it is the individual’s responsibility to renew their Artist Certification in a timely manner. Protects the community from adverse health effects resulting from environmental pollution, unsanitary conditions or unsafe practices by regulation and enforcement of the following environmental health programs mandated or delegated by the New York State Department of Health, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, Nassau County Public Health Ordinance and Nassau County Legislation. Programs offered through the DEH include: Adolescent Tobacco Use Prevention Act (ATUPA); Community Sanitation; Environmental Engineering; Food Protection; Groundwater Protection; Petroleum Bulk Storage; Public Water Supply; Small Petroleum Tank Abandonments and Removals; Swimming Pools & Bathing Beaches; Summer Camps; Tattoo & Body Piercing; Temporary Residences; Toxic & Hazardous Material Storage and Zoonotic Diseases.
