Lifetime Liberty Pass: free vehicle entry to state parks and DEC-operated day-use areas, state boat launch sites, historic sites, arboretums and park preserves free golf at 28 state park golf courses; free swimming pool entrance at 36 state park pools discounted camping and cabin rentals at all 119 state parks and DEC campgroundsVeterans with current, valid Access Pass will be contacted before pass expires with information for enrolling in the program and will no longer have to reapply every four years. Advocates on behalf of New York's veterans and their families, individually and as a group, to ensure they receive benefits granted by law for service in the United States Armed Forces.The Division provides free benefits counseling by experienced counselors, who are also veterans. They help veterans and their spouses, children or parent(s) complete applications, obtain necessary documentation and file claims for federal, state, local and private veterans' benefits. Counselors respond to follow-up correspondence and appeal unfavorable rulings.The Division works with other state, federal, local and private agencies to help veterans and their families with specific needs, such as financial, employment, rehabilitation, medical treatment, home health care, education and tax exemptions.It educates the general public and government and private agencies to the special skills and needs of veterans, particularly those with medical, employment and other needs or skills resulting from wartime experience.The Division administers: annuity programs providing monthly stipends to visually-impaired veterans and eligible surviving spouses and payments to eligible parents of service members killed in action the Veterans Education Bureau, which certifies post-secondary educational and vocational programs for veterans using federal education benefitsClick here for more information.
