Property must:
  • Be in Erie County
  • Have been built before 1978
  • Be a 1, 2, 3, or 4 unit building
  • Have a child or children under the age of 6 living in the home OR regularly visiting more than 6 hours per week
  • Have residents who meet the minimum household income eligibility requirements; see website for income guidelines.

Erie County, NY
A low-cost initiative available to property owners, qualifying families, and home-based daycares. Provides lead hazard identification and contracted labor and supplies* to remediate and control lead hazards (*value not to exceed the cost of correcting lead hazards only). Property does not have to be owner occupied to qualify. All work is performed by EPA-certified lead abatement contractors. Qualifying properties will receive:
  • Free lead-based paint inspection and risk assessment (valued at $800/unit)
  • If identified as lead and/or healthy homes hazards, new windows, doors, siding, trim, exterior and interior painting, porch repair and home safety measures
Program is NOT intended to perform non-lead-related renovations or home rehabilitation work, although some funds may be available for minor healthy home improvements.
