YOUTH SERVICES CENTER | TEMPO GROUP (WOODMERE)
A social and recreational program for youth-at-risk. School aged children and adolescents participate in programs including community service projects. The Center plays an important role in developing positive peer relationships and building a youngster’s sense of self-esteem and worth. A safe and supportive after school program is created by staff in order to enhance the safe socialization and educational process of students, as well as decrease the students’ likelihood of involvement in at-risk behaviors, such substance use, gang involvement or violence. Activities implemented to facilitate this process includes physical exercise, homework assistance, therapeutic arts and crafts, and a drop in social and recreational program. When necessary, participation in a mentorship program and/or participation in evidence based intervention/prevention programs such as Teen Intervene or Too Good for Drugs & Violence, or on-going preventive therapeutic counseling for the student and family.

TEMPO GROUP
Provides a community-based outpatient substance abuse prevention and intervention service to children, adolescents, and adults. Offers prevention, education, intervention and treatment programs in all areas related to substance abuse and family issues. Provides clinical services for individuals suffering from the disease of addiction. Personalized treatment plans are developed to provide clients with necessary counseling and support systems to assist them in achieving abstinence and recovery. Family and significant others are included in treatment, and educated about the nature of chemical dependency and how to support their loved ones in their effort toward recovery. The licensed professionals at Tempo Group not only see clients in the agency, but also provide on-site prevention services to middle schools and high schools in the surrounding school districts. Tempo staff interacts with students and faculty on a daily basis, developing drug prevention and leadership programs for students. They hold discussion groups on current issues and topics of concern for adolescents, addressing identified at-risk students and managing crisis situations.
