Also assists the Coast Guard in non-law enforcement programs such as public education, vessel safety checks, safety patrols, search and rescue, marine environmental protection, and Coast Guard Academy introduction programs for youth. First District Southern Region Division 1, 12, 13, 18 and 21 serves Long Island. Flotillas are located at Oyster Bay, Huntington, Cold Spring Harbor, Northport, Stony Brook, and Port Jefferson.
