NASSAU COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF CONSUMER AFFAIRS
Provides consumer protection to Nassau residents and regulates unfair, deceptive, and unconscionable trade practices through the Investigations and Complaints Division. The Department of Consumer Affairs issues licenses and registrations to businesses. The Department is responsible for the administration of the Rules & Regulations governing the for-hire vehicle industry. The Weights and Measures Division performs mechanical testing, inspections, and sealing of all weighing and measuring devices used commercially or in public agencies to ensure accuracy and full measure for the consumer. The Information and Education Division develops and conducts programs of consumer education and information, increases the competence of consumers and encourages businesses to maintain high standards of honesty and fair trade practices.
