Nassau County residents recovering from mental illness referred by their mental health professional. Volunteers are asked to make a one year commitment to devote at least 1 hour/week to their Compeer partner.

Matches volunteers in one-to -one relationships with Nassau County adults and youth recovering from mental illness. Recruits, interviews, screens, trains and supports volunteers who agree to a one year commitment to visit their Compeer friend for a minimum of fours hours a month. Provides program participants with supportive friendship, advocacy, increased social interaction, positive role models and access to educational community activities.
