Several application options available: - Apply online using Get Water Wise Buffalo. Must submit documents to verify income and residency. SNAP, HEAP, SSI, or Public Assistance enrollment automatically provides proof of eligible income. Application should take about 10 minutes. - Call or email for application form. Fill out application form completely and submit along with copies of the following documents via mail (281 Exchange St, Buffalo, NY 14204), fax (to 716-847-0150), or email (to [email protected]). Documents needed to apply: - Water bill - Proof of income (Current PA, SNAP, HEAP, or SSI proof is automatically approved) - Proof of ownership if homeowner OR copy of lease/landlord statement showing the tenant is responsible to pay water bill if renter Applicant must re-apply every year. Discount ends December 31st of each year, so it's best to apply at the beginning of each year to receive the full 12 months of the discount. For additional discounts, seniors should bring a copy of their enhanced STAR tax exemption to the water department at City Hall (Room 1038) to receive the discounted rate.

Description

Allows low-income households (owners or renters) to receive a discount on their quarterly water bills. Discount for low-income households is $15.00 per quarter ($60 per year), and discount for very low-income households is $22.50 per quarter ($90 per year). Additional discounts are available to senior citizens (see Intake / Application Process below). Program be accessed via Get Wise Water Buffalo, an official Affordable Water Program assistance tool available online.
