Description

Provides an array of programs to address homelessness in Lewis County. Does not host an emergency shelter. If shelter emergency occurs after business hours, contact the Lewis County Sheriff at 315-376-3511 and they will contact the Department of Social Services worker assigned. Worker will provide an assessment of housing needs and make a referral to an appropriate program within the community.

Provides a full range of publicly funded social services and cash assistance programs. Subsidy is available to eligible families. Works with children, adults, and families to resolve issues and concerns of abuse, neglect, behavioral problems, etc., to ensure safety and wellbeing. Oversees Children's Services and Financial Programs including SNAP, Temporary Assistance, Emergency Assistance, HEAP, Medicaid, Foster Care, Adult Protective Services, Child Support and resources to assist in job searching.
