Seeks to educate, empower, and care for those individuals, groups, and communities in Nassau and Suffolk Counties who have suffered illness, oppression or dependency. Provides general social work services, counseling, education and explores social and empowerment issues. Also offers counseling for the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender communities of Long Island and New York. Publishes the Heart and Soul Community News, a calendar of events, agency brochure, and educational material. Maintains a Speakers Bureau which presents on such topics as depression, racism, substance abuse, homophobia, womens' issues, empowerment, sexual harassment, and divorce mediation.
