A free program open to anyone with lived mental health experience who wants to develop the skills to become a peer support specialist and advocate. Peer support specialists bring a unique understanding to their work, having lived through recovery themselves. Peer Specialists play a valuable role in mental health agencies as they help others achieve their goals and support them on their personal recovery journey. Training and support are provided by experienced Peer Specialists using the NYS Academy of Peer Services curriculum. Participants can join in person or online, depending on their comfort level.
