Provides on-the-job training. Operates on the premise that private sector businesses provide the best training opportunities. Can offset 50-75% of the cost involved in training new employees, and the business can be assured that the employee is trained on company equipment and to company standards. Once a business decides to hire a job seeker who is eligible for OJT, a Business Services team member will schedule a brief meeting with the company representative to review the extent of training required, current funding levels, and the steps required to implement the funding. The business retains control over which trainee will be selected, the qualifications, wage rate, and job parameters, as well as what the trainee will learn.
