Eligibility
In order to qualify for a grant, applicants must fall into at least ONE of the following classifications:
  • Be at least 55 years old
  • Have a household member who is handicapped or has a disability that reduces the household's income
  • Have a certified medical emergency
  • Be a US Military Veteran
  • Be a recipient of unemployment benefits
Applicant must also reside in National Fuel's service territory; however, there is no need to be a National Fuel customer. Whenever HEAP is open, potential applicants must have applied for energy/fuel assistance through HEAP first. Service Area: Erie County.

Application process
Call to schedule interview. At time of interview, clients must provide proof of identification, monthly income, and monthly expenses.

Service area
Erie County, NY
Provides a one time grant on a first come, first served basis beginning October 1st of each year until funds are exhausted. The maximum grant is $300. Grant can be used to:
  • Prevent disconnection of service
  • Pay current or past-due energy bills (excluding electric)
  • Purchase home heating fuel of any kind
Whenever HEAP is open, potential applicants must have applied for energy/fuel assistance through HEAP first.
