Life classes are designed to prepare special needs students for the world of work. A three-step approach is used for school-to-work transition.Phase I-Exploratory Rotation: This phase exposes students to a variety of career options by rotating through 4 different vocational programs. The programs are Auto Detailing, Building Maintenance, Floral & Greenhouse Services, Food Service Preparation.Phase II-Full Year Classes: -Students receive intensive skill development in one career and technical education program. Programs include Auto Mechanics, Childcare Aide, Construction and Building Maintenance, Floral & Greenhouse, Food Service Preparation, Landscaping, Office and Business, Retail Services, Small Engine RepairPhase III-Community Placement: In this phase, students participate in supervised community work. Students work in the field four days of the week and one day in the classroom to review worksite attitudes and behaviors, specific job skills, time management, appropriate work attire, personal hygiene, self-advocacy, problem solving and safety awareness.
