Provides income-eligible households with rental subsidies to cover rental costs in excess of 30 percent of household income. No emergency assistance available. Voucher recipients and their families also receive case management, life skills development, referrals and advocacy services.

Assists individuals and families who are at risk of homelessness due to an eviction notice or utility issues or help in avoiding foreclosure. Services include landlord mediation, utility company mediation, referrals, access to safe and affordable transitional housing. Households are counseled on restructuring debt, establishing reinstatement plans, foreclosure prevention strategies, loan forbearance, management of household finances, obtaining rental subsidies, landlord and renter rights, the eviction process and locating alternative housing. Financial assistance also consists of security deposit assistance, rent payment assistance, and assistance with back utilities and back rent. Transitional housing is located in Almond and is only for individuals or families who are facing homelessness.

Offers services to aid those receiving assistance to build the skills, and find the resources to move off of assistance and to sustain long term stability. Aids those that are in a domestic violence situation to find housing, and additional resources to gain stability away from their abusers. Provides financial assistance to individuals and families who are facing possible homelessness including rent and utility payment assistance, rent and utility security deposit assistance, and moving expenses assistance. Help with rental and utility arrears may also be available.

The Housing Resource Center provides services for Yonkers residents, that educate tenants, prevent eviction, end homelessness, and improve living conditions for singles and families. For over 20 years, we have been assisting households with a wide range of services, including: professional guidance to prevent evictions, code enforcement for improved housing conditions, emergency assistance for displaced families, tenant education and training short-term financial assistance with intensive case management for qualifying households.

Assists eligible individuals in a crisis by issuing one-time, non-recurring payments to meet emergency situations. The unit may assist with security agreements to landlords, extermination fees, moving or storage expenses, and utility arrears payments to avoid shut-offs or to restore service. Financial assistance is made in the form of a loan for utility shut-off, evictions, moving/storage expenses, property repair, rental assistance, mortgage assistance, and foreclosure. A security agreement is provided to landlords instead of a security deposit. Expenses may include rental deposits, rent assistance, utility deposits, moving expenses, expenses associated with non-shelter temporary housing in situations where permanent housing has been secured but is currently unavailable, and other costs the family may incur in the process of acquiring or maintaining housing.

Provides community outreach centers throughout the county to meets the needs of individuals and families in need. Each center provides basic needs services along with benefits assistance. Services include food pantries, emergency housing assistance, family services to promote self-reliance and prevent future crisis. HEAP application assistance. Coordinates Medical Transportation.

Provides financial assistance for partial rent payment or electric/gas bill payment when facing eviction, shut off or other emergency situations, and is determined on a case by case basis.
