Conducts property transfer surveys which includes bacteriological water analysis and testing of on-site waste water treatment systems. Investigates special issues including rabies, radon, nuisance complaints, smoking in public, emergencies related to Public Health, West Nile Virus/Eastern Equine Encephalitis, mosquito vector surveillance, and control measures as warranted. Investigates and oversees the abatement of lead-based paint hazards in dwellings where children under 6 years of age resides.

Administers a food inspection program of food service establishments and caterers to protect the public's health, and provides health education and information on safe food handling practices.
