Assists with consumer legal issues including bankruptcy, frozen bank accounts, debt problems, student loans, ID theft, car problems, and utility shutoffs.

Provides credit/debt, budget, and housing counseling free of charge to consumers throughout New York. Counselors can help an individual with: Understanding their financial situation and goals Explaining debt management options Offering recommendations for how to get out of debt Developing a personalized action plan

Focuses on developing sound money management techniques, gaining financial literacy skills and re-establishing credit after bankruptcy. A Certificate of Completion for this two-hour course is required for bankruptcy discharge.

Provides the legally required Bankruptcy Counseling and issuing of the certificate needed prior to filing for bankruptcy.

The consumer will be asked to provide information about income, household expenses and debts so a full budget analysis can be made. Alternatives to bankruptcy will be explained along with any options that may help the financial situation. A complete overview of the bankruptcy process including advantages and disadvantages of bankruptcy will be provided. Clients that complete this counseling will be issued a certificate which is required for filing a bankruptcy.

Provides free civil legal services for individuals who are HIV positive or who have an HIV positive family member, including but not limited to: end of life planning, care and custody planning, child support, custody, visitation, family offenses, divorce, discrimination, bankruptcy, housing problems, and name change.

Assists and advises debtors in representing themselves in court and filing all the necessary court paperwork related to debt. Program can help people who may have collections issues, wage garnishments, frozen bank accounts, debt court cases or judgments related to credit card debts, medical debts, student loans, car loans, utilities collections, lines of credit, charge accounts, and foreclosures.

Provides the legally required Bankruptcy Counseling and issuing of the certificate needed prior to filing for bankruptcy.

Provides a full budget analysis, alternatives to bankruptcy, and suggestions that may help with current financial situation. Gives a complete overview of the bankruptcy process including advantages and disadvantages for filing bankruptcy.
