Provides an education specialist who serves on the PINS Diversion Team, which reviews and assesses. If the child has a school problem that requires further intervention, an education advocate will then negotiate, mediate or represent on the student's behalf.

YAP continually evolves services to meet new needs that emerge for youth involved within the juvenile justice system, but most of our programming is designed for the purposes below. Diversion: to divert youth from formal system involvement. Pre-Adjudication: to prevent formal detention while ensuring community safety. Post-Adjudication: to prevent incarceration in prisons, jails or other residential or secure facilities. Re-Entry: to promote safety and support to youth transitioning back to the community from institutional placement.

Breaks the school-to-prison pipeline and reduces disproportionate minority representation in the juvenile justice system via restorative justice, conflict resolution, circles and conferences.

Provides families who are at risk of family court involvemen an approach to create family-driven, strength-based, and individualized responses that assure safety and well-being of youth and families throughout Westchester County. This program provide MHA mental health care managers who will bring an array of services and expertise for children with serious social, emotional, and behavioral challenges.

Juvenile unit provides diversion services, in collaboration with Social Services, Mental Health, Volunteer Counseling Services, Mental Health Association and other agencies to Persons in Need of Supervision PINS and Juvenile Delinquents JDs and monitors juvenile cases referred to Family Court. Also, provides supervision to youths placed on probation by the Family Court and liaison services to the non-secure shelter.

Provides a PINS diversion program. AFY is a 30-45 day home based crisis intervention for youth that display a pattern of incorrigible behavior(Defiance in the home, disobeying curfew, aggressive behaviors, truancy/failing school and mental health issues). Case Managers will do an assessment of family needs and links them with community resources to get the family out of crisis. In addition, after the 30-45 days are completed. a Phase 2 of the program is implemented to link the families with partnership agencies for typically 3-6 months, but can be up to a year to ensure the ensure the family's needs are met and they remain stabilized. AFY also provides parent support workshops, adolescent male and female workshops as well as peer mentoring services.

A 6-month program where convicted individuals have an opportunity to get help without going to jail or prison. This program must be completed in order for the individual to be set free of jail/prison time by doing a variety of services, such as community service, schooling, job training, alcohol/drug treatment, if applicable and intense counseling.

Alternate to conventional prosecution facing violations, most misdemeanors and some non-violent felonies.

Provides a mental health program designed for the criminal offender suffering from serious mental illness to successfully reintegrate into the community upon release

Offers a temporary home for 11 to 18 year old children who are court mandated. Provides a school program, individual counseling, and group dynamics. The Our Lady of Peace Academy is a free standing alternative school for grades 7 through 12. Individualized instruction and private tutoring is provided by qualified teachers.

Provides an alternative to jail for youth who have been arrested, and are willing to do restitution through community service or other options.

Develops and maintain peer support relationship with justice involved individuals that offer the opportunity on a one-on-one support setting to help avoid emergency room visits, re-incarceration and hospitalization.

Works with youth who have been placed on probation through a parent or school PINS petition and are at risk of being adjudicated to higher level probation or placement in a Division for Youth facility. Offers home and/or school visits on a weekly basis. Services include, but are not limited to, anger management, school advocacy, life skills coaching, communication skills, job assistance, self -esteem, self-awareness and parent education. Provides an alternative to incarceration, on appropriate cases, by screening defendants before arraignment and makes recommendation for a defendant's release by verifying certain documentation and personal history information.

Offers a supervision program for at-risk, pre-teen and youngsters under the age of 16. Focuses on establishing a discipline structure within the family with parenting skills offered. Supervised study group for at-risk juveniles failing subjects. Youth counselors function as parent advocate for juveniles needing services of the Justice and/or Mental Health System. Program is for parents and children together.

Provides services to avoid placement of children and youth outside their homes. Family- focused case management services. Helps to keep families intact and to avoid problems that may cause children to be at risk. PERSONS IN NEED OF SUPERVISION (PINS) in cooperation with the Dept. of Probation, provides intensive case management services to youth placed into the Persons in Need of Supervision (PINS) Diversion Program. Provides restorative justice, family support and supervision for youth who have committed a delinquent act. Diversion from Family Court.

Identifies, screens and refers people with serious mental illness who have been arrested and sentenced by court for treatment services. This is an intensive case management and treatment program that provides individualized services.
