Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) | CASA of the Southern Tier

Provides child advocacy services to children who have been abused or neglected, including accompanying them to their court hearings and other meetings as appropriate to help speak on the child's behalf. Trains volunteers to serve as a neutral third party to Family Court Article 10 proceedings (abuse and neglect cases). A CASA Advocate can only be assigned to a case by a Family Court Judge.

COURT APPOINTED SPECIAL ADVOCATES (CASA) | GREATER MENTAL HEALTH OF NEW YORK

Provides specially trained volunteer advocates to assist children who are abused or neglected and usually in foster care or are at risk for foster care placement. CASA volunteer ensure that the child's medical care, mental health, and educational needs are met and help the court determine the best interest of the child. Volunteers typically work with one or two families, devoting time and energy to assist the court and child welfare system in making the best possible permanent plan for the child.
