Responsible for enforcing laws and ordinances, investigating criminal activity, and engaging in other activities that protect lives and property and preserve peace in the community. Also has a bicycle patrol, a detective division and the Hudson Enforcement team who protects the waterways.

Responsible for enforcing all laws and ordinances, preventing crime, investigating criminal activity, apprehending, arresting and detaining suspects, presenting evidence, regulating traffic, investigating traffic accidents and engaging in other activities that protect lives and property and preserve peace in the community. Also has forensics, harbor/marine units, canine teams, bomb squad and hostage negotiation.

Provides various modes of protecting the local residents, including a K-9 unit which helps to recover drugs, locate missing persons and help capture crime suspects. Also has a harbor unit which patrols the waterways.

Provides safety and protection in various ways to the local community. The Detectives Division investigates crimes for very specific felony crimes, such as burglary, homicide, assault, etc.
