A not-for-profit public interest firm providing free legal services to low-income individuals and families in Western New York. NLS aims to create the greatest access to the justice system for low-income individuals and those living with disabilities to pursue goals that will increase both the stability and the quality of their lives. Works to educate, empower, and to promote equality of all people with disabilities in Niagara County. Provides peer supports, information and referral, advocacy, transition supports, and peer services to people with any functional limitations. Has many programs and resources to assist constituents, including Deaf Services, Medicaid Application Assistance Program, Independent Living Skills training, Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Services (CDPAS), and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and benefit/entitlement services for individuals with disabilities. Also offers a medical loan closet. Addict 2 Addict (A2A): A peer-led team serving people with substance use disorders and their families and loved ones. Peers (in sustained recovery themselves and/or having loved ones with a substance use disorder) share their recovery experience and help those with substance use disorders navigate the many avenues to take by offering information, advocacy, and Peer Counseling to help them reach their first steps on the path to recovery. The team is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week and will respond to a call at 716-498-4333 within 24 hours.

Offers legal counseling, information, and assistance with such concerns as Health Care Proxy, wills, guardianship, power of attorney, living wills and trusts, consumer fraud, contractual disputes, tenant-landlord disputes, home ownership questions, neighbor disputes, Social Security questions, Medicare and Medicaid related problems, SSI application, and eligibility questions.

* Offers free civil legal services to low-income residents: Education Law. Foreclosure prevention. Health care access. Health care insurance. Medicaid (for clients outside of the LawNY coverage area). Social Security Law & SSI/SSD. Victims of crime. Civil Rights/Discrimination.Tenant Rights.

Provides a variety of services for people with disabilities in an effort to gain independence. Services include individual advocacy, peer counseling, systems advocacy, benefits planning assistance, education and employment support, ADA consultations, housing search assistance, and media resources.

* Provides information and assistance to older adults and their caregivers that includes: Information, referral and advocacy. Case management. Long Term Care Options Counseling to help consumers make informed decisions about care. Benefits counseling and assistance applying for public benefits such as HEAP, Medicaid, EPIC, Medicaid, Medicare Savings Program, etc. Health Insurance Counseling. Medicare 101 workshops. Transportation information and referrals. Legal Assistance. Caregiver counseling, information and support. Senior housing guide. * Provides Nutrition Services. Home delivered meals. Congregate dining sites, lunch and dinner. Nutrition counseling and education. Farmers Market coupon program. * Provides community-based support services. Homemaker/Personal care services. Housekeeping/chore services. In-home assessment. Grab bars, rails, ramp referrals Personal Emergency Response Systems Respite care Project Lifesaver Matter of Balance and health promotion programs Volunteer program

* Assist individuals with disabilities and seniors to keep their Medicaid or SSI benefits when they have excess income or a spenddown requirement.

Provides a variety of services for infants, children, new moms, and parents. Services include home visits, breastfeeding support, family planning, child immunizations, parenting and child development education, and connections to resources like daycare programs, doctors and dentists, transportation assistance, public assistance programs (including WIC), and lead testing services.

Provides information and assistance in a person centered format to help individuals aged 60+ or of any age with a disability to make informed decisions on long term services and supports.

Assists individuals with disabilities to become more independent in all phases of their lives.

Provides free legal counseling and representation for low-income individuals who need assistance in civil cases including government benefits, senior legal services, federal tax issue, unemployment insurance, disability, housing landlord/tenant, family law matters, and consumers issues.

Provides advocacy from staff who are often parents of children with an emotional, social or behavioral disorder who facilitate support for children and families in the community, on local and state committees, and at conferences relating to children's mental health.

* Assists individuals and families to work towards self-sufficiency. Crisis intervention to assist with food, shelter, children's clothing, and related needs. Food pantry. Clothing Closet for all ages. Assistance applying for DHS assistance. Assistance applying for Social Security assistance. Personal Care Items, as well as Diapers and Baby Products. Monthly Women's Group.

Provides free legal counseling and representation for low-income individuals who need assistance in civil cases including government benefits, senior legal services, federal tax issue, unemployment insurance, disability, housing landlord/tenant, family law matters, and consumers issues.

* Provides individual living skills, referrals to counseling, treatment programs, and other community services. Also offers on-site outreach services by other community organizations.* Provides food pantry referrals.* Offers eviction/rent/mortgage assistance.* Provides utility gas and electric bill payment assistance.* Provides assistance with filling out DHS, SSI, SSD applications.* Provides updated housing list for apartments.* Provides assistance with transportation, daily bus passes.* Provides information to another community organization to obtain beds and used/refurbished appliances.

Assists in locating housing, linking people to public assistance, rental subsidies and financial assistance, advocating with landlords, and assisting in conflict resolution.

Assists people with developmental disabilities and/or traumatic brain injury in gaining the necessary supports and services to lead successful lives in the community according to their own needs and desires. Service Coordination is Medicaid State Plan administered by NYS OMRDD and NYS DOH.

* Provides 1-1 consultation with patient advocates for people suffering from Mesothelioma or lung cancer. Assists with filing VA claims. Referral to Mesothelioma related treatment. Financial resources. Support groups.

Service Access Liaison Program provides short-term services to help navigate through the Front Door process.

Services Offered: Information and referral services for pregnant women and parenting families STEP Early Childhood (birth-5yrs) effective parenting classes Professional and consumer health education and assistance to enroll in available medical coverage programs, including Medicaid and Child Health Plus and help with other insurance issues Smoking cessation program with telephone counseling Free resource library including videos on childbirth, parenting, nutrition, etc.

Families and individuals who are living in poverty who are looking to grow and become independent members of our community and self-sufficient in all areas of life.

Helps people stay independent as long as they are able, in the least restrictive setting that meets their needs.
