NEIGHBORHOOD ADVISOR PROGRAM | HUNTINGTON FAMILY CENTERS

Provides intensive outreach and referrals to services and support networking to lessen feelings of isolation and to enable seniors 60 years of age and older to experience their highest degree of independence. Services provided by visiting seniors in their homes, helping them fill out forms such as HEAP Medicare, SNAP, SSI, etc., and locating services within the community.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PROGRAM | SPANISH ACTION LEAGUE OF ONONDAGA COUNTY (LA LIGA)

Provides long-and short-term crisis intervention, including emergency relocation information, counseling, and referrals for legal, health, and social services. Serves as interpreters in shelters, assists parents with finding childcare, and provides parenting skills workshops. Offers a women's support group for women who have been abused.

Also features an auditorium available for public use. Serves as a Cooling Center for individuals during times of excessive heat. Provides an on-site emergency food pantry for residents of specific streets in the City of Lockport (call for details) and information on meal planning and budgeting. Provides rent, mortgage, and utility payment assistance to low income individuals and families when funds are available; funds are currently unavailable. Fair Housing Advocacy Program assists individuals who feel they are victims of discrimination when purchasing or renting a home. Provides information, assessment, and referral to the appropriate federal, state, or local human rights agency or court. Provides housing location services and landlord/tenant advocacy. Individual advocacy, information and referral, application assistance, asset management, and budget counseling are also available.
