Assists custodial parents and their children with locating absent parents, establishing paternity, obtaining support for their children, and enforcing the terms of the Family Court/Supreme Court orders of support.
Offers assistance to custodial parents in obtaining court ordered child and health support for their dependent children as well as establishing paternity. Individuals who pay and/or receive child support payments that are collected through a child support unit can call and request to have their local Child Support Representative contact them.

Suffolk Drug Court Expansion provides Suffolk TASC with a Clinical Coordinator/Psychiatric Social Worker, two Case Managers, and a Vocational Counselor to expand services for individuals. As a team, they assess participants, determine the level of care needed, place them in appropriate treatment agencies, and monitor the individuals as they move through drug treatment services towards successful completion of all mandated programs.

Works with local and state agencies to help women and their children acquire the aid they deserve, help them complete the proper paperwork in order to receive the financial support and assist them in locating delinquent fathers, establishing paternity, and, ultimately, receiving child support payments.
Pro bono attorneys and law students provide consultation and advice in child support matters. Representation in court is not provided.
Provides assistance in locating absent parents, filing petitions, establishing paternity and child support in Family Court, enforcement and collection of child support orders, issuing checks, legal representation on all public assistance cases and other eligible cases.

Provides an after court interview to all custodial and non-custodial parents on their newly court ordered child support from Family Court. Staff obtains updates and verifies personal data, including employer information. Staff explains support obligations, proper payment instructions and possible enforcement procedures for non-compliance. Also provides a free monthly seminar to all non-custodial parents to help them understand their rights and responsibilities.

The Family Law Division represents the Department of Social Services in Family Court on matters of paternity, support, child abuse and neglect, foster care, severance of parental rights, persons in need of supervision (PINS) and juvenile delinquency (JD) cases.
