Help with CPS investigation against parents; clearing parents name at the State Central Register for child abuse and neglect; neglect and abuse court cases; permanency planning court cases and termination of parental rights.

Legal aid attorneys are assigned to family court and criminal court matters when the person needing representation is income eligible. Eligibility requirements for low income status are confidential, callers need to call for an eligibility screening. Does not handle divorce, separation or initial support cases, paternity for petitioner, parole, or juvenile cases.

The Family Law Division represents the Department of Social Services in Family Court on matters of paternity, support, child abuse and neglect, foster care, severance of parental rights, persons in need of supervision (PINS) and juvenile delinquency (JD) cases.
