The County Clerk: works with agencies of county and local governments heads the local Department of Motor Vehicles office represents two federal agencies and seven state government agenciesThe County Clerk is: registrar for land transactions (deeds, mortgages, maps, etc.) and keeps those records repository for Uniform Commercial Code filings, veterans' discharges, old census records, oaths of office, pistol permits and many other instruments registrar for business certificates for doing business under an assumed name and doing business as partnerships. For Certificates of Incorporation, call NY State Department, Corporate & State Records Division, (518) 474-4429Same-day service for providing a printed copy of a homeowner's deed at 65 cents per page (state-required copying charge). If the request is sent by e-mail, an electronic copy is free.
