The County Department(s) of Probation and Corrections work to preserve the safety of the citizens and reintegration of offenders back into the community.

Offers a 24 hour hotline for individuals who are survivors of domestic violence. Also provides a safe, secure emergency shelter for victims and their children. Assistance is available with obtaining orders of protection with family court including accompaniment to court, appointments and other supportive services. Provides personalized safety plans, educational support groups, and domestic violence counseling. Services are available to men, women and children. Donations of new clothing are accepted; new socks underwear and bras, are most needed, as well as pajamas, sweatpants/yoga pants, t-shirts and sweatshirts of all sizes, children's sizes to XXXL adult.

Investigates and prosecutes all felony cases involving the physical and sexual abuse of children under age 17, as well as all cases involving intimate partner and family violence. The Bureau’s mission also includes working with the Suffolk County Police Department’s Homicide Squad in the investigation and prosecution of infant homicides.
