Adult & Community Education - KenTon Union Free School District

In addition to helping adult students prepare for the TASC exam and earn their High School Equivalency Diploma, the Adult and Community Education Department offers Adult Basic Education classes for students to improve their reading, writing, and math skills. Students work at their own pace with the help of a certified teacher. Career Counseling and Case Management is available to all students and classes are open to individuals 17 years of age or older regardless of residency. English as an Alternate Language and Citizenship programming are also offered at the main building and at an addendum site in the morning and evening.

Preschool Learning & Literacy - Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center

A new Supplemental Education Program developed as an affordable option for families unable to participate in the traditional insurance-based Leap Into Literacy program due to cost. Follows the same framework as Leap into Literacy by explicitly teaching emergent literacy skills in order to prevent or diminish reading challenges before they begin. Emergent literacy skills include speaking, reading, writing, and viewing during the early childhood years. This is a multi-sensory program that targets auditory processing skills, expressive and receptive language skills, phonological awareness, print knowledge, academic concepts, fine motor, and sensory skills.

Thrift store accepts donations of good condition household items, furniture, books, DVDs, CDs, collectibles, current educational materials, craft and hobby items, musical instruments, antiques, small and large appliances, and workplace apparel. Pick up available for donations of large household items and furniture. Employment services include resume and job search assistance, job skills training, and on-the-job work experience. Also offers free access to computers and internet for job searching activities. Educational services include high school equivalency preparation credit recovery. The free TRIO EOC program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, hosted at SUNY Genesee Community College (GCC) provides free support to aid community members in applying to, funding and enrolling in further education. Planned Parenthood of Central and Western New York, The Connection

A free after-school drop-in center for teens in Niagara Falls, serving adolescent teens ages 11-19. The Connection Coordinator, members of the Teen Peer Program, and Community Trainers lead lively discussions and educational sessions as well as cooking classes, book clubs, and opportunities for youth to develop their community leadership skills. Contests, field trips and other activities are chosen and developed by teen members attending. Members can spend time studying or completing homework, relaxing in a safe space, and engaging in structured programs. Meals or snacks are served daily. Connection members also benefit from informal mentoring, tutoring, a video game lounge, service learning activities, character building, teen employment preparation and employer linkages, college preparation, media production, computer and printer access.

School-Age Education Program - Arc Erie County New York
