Offers an amazing public high school program that has transformed the lives of young emerging artists from across Long Island through both its high school and summer programs. LIHSA is a Career and Technical Education (CTE) program. Under New York State’s “4+1” pathway assessment option, students must take and pass four required Regents Exams or Department Approved Alternative assessments and complete a comparably rigorous pathway to meet the fifth assessment requirement for graduation. Students can now do this with completion of the Career and Technical Education-approved exam and the core sequence of classes at LIHSA. Courses are offered in Performing Arts; Visual & Digital Arts; Scenic Construction & Production Technologies; Sonic Arts; Game Design; Multimedia Journalism; 3D Animation and Expressive Arts and Human Development. Call LIHSA for admissions requirements. In addition to classes for students LIHSA’s campus is available for rental space. Our 38,000 square feet of studios and workshops across three buildings are filled with professional workspaces and facilities. We have four dance studios on campus, a larger theatre that holds 350 audience members with lighting and sound equipment, two smaller black box theatres, a recording studio, numerous classroom spaces, practice rooms, art studios, film editing room, darkroom, digital music space and a carpentry shop for scenic design. CENTER FOR COMMUNITY ADJUSTMENT | CENTER FOR COMMUNITY ADJUSTMENT
Meets the unique learning needs of students who are emotionally, behaviorally, or developmentally disabled to a mild/moderate degree through three distinct programs on a closed campus. The Nassau Education and Treatment (NET) Program which is a collaborative effort between Nassau BOCES, Sagamore Children's Psychiatric Hospital (Phase I) and North Shore Child & Family Guidance Center (Phase II). This meets the therapeutic, medical and learning needs for students diagnosed with various psychiatric disorders. The instructional program is aligned to the New York State Learning Standards and addresses students' cognitive levels and learning styles. Students are given the opportunity to: Earn a New York State Regents diploma or other state approved high school diploma and earn college credits through a partnership with S.U.N.Y Farmingdale State College. The Modified High School Program is designed to meet the learning and behavioral needs of students with varying abilities. The curriculum balances transitional and prevocational skills training, functional academics and New York State Learning standards. The instruction is aligned to the Career Development and Occupational Studies (CDOS) standards and leads to a Skills and Achievement Commencement Credential (SACC). The Life Skills Enrichment Program, offers a daily living skills curriculum with a functional academic base to develop job readiness skills. The instruction is aligned with the Skills and Achievement Commencement Credential (SACC). Students participate in non-paid internships at public and non-profit facilities and agencies, such as supermarkets, offices, parks and small businesses supervised by Nassau BOCES staff and on-site personnel to learn a variety of entry level skills. CCA’s behavior support program encourages positive choices, recognizes student achievement and supports the school mission to provide specially designed instruction to meet the social-emotional, academic, behavioral and transitional needs of students. Through a collaborative process among students, staff, families, school districts and outside agencies, CCA maintains a safe and supportive learning community enabling students to become productive, functional and independent members of society.

Provides a hospital program located at South Oaks in Amityville which offers an educational program for hospitalized adolescents. Both disabled and non-disabled students can enroll in this program. Close contact is established initially with each child's home school guidance counselor to identify the level of instruction needed. The education program at South Oaks, consisting of basic high school subjects in English, social studies, mathematics and science, and is considered an integral part of the treatment program by hospital administration. The educational staff works in partnership with doctors, nurses and psychologists to facilitate comprehensive treatment. Call for more detailed information.

An after-school program is offered for students who are unable to attend a normal full-day school due to the students' disability(ies). Also includes management services, e.g., cooperative purchasing, educational communications, certification, labor relations, and staff development.

This program provides an enriched educational environment that incorporates the Common Core Learning Standard while responding to many of the studentsâ social and psychological needs. Beyond basic academic instructions, many students receive services from consulting psychiatrist either employed by the Office of Mental Health or BOCES and participate in a wide range of extracurricular activities. The classroom teacher, the paraprofessional(s), a psychologist and a social worker assigned to each classroom unit create a team approach. Outreach services to involve families within the school community is an integral part of the Middle School Program. Also offered is the The PASS program at the Brennan Middle/High School. This program is serving disabled and non-disabled students of middle and high school ages. This program offers a highly structured environment in which instructional and behavioral deficits can be addressed within a small group setting for high school aged students. The educational environment parallels that of the Brennan High School. Students may or may not be classified as special education students. All are in need of alternative education. Truancy, non-compliance with school rules and generally disruptive behavior often characterize a student in crisis; such a student is appropriate for the PASS program. Students who are at risk due to poor achievement may also be referred to this program where they will be afforded many support services to ensure success.

The program will continue to offer academic education at a commencement level, development of transition skills, and development of social skills designed to foster improved functioning in a school setting. The Regional Alternative High School Program is also offering placement to students that have been suspended or are awaiting an out of district placement, as well as offering students the option to attend for credit recovery and test preparation for state assessments. The Regional Alternative High School is also offering placement to students who are English Language Learners. Students enrolled in this program will have a daily schedule that consists of four hour departmentalized format. Instruction takes place in “blocks” focusing on two core subjects (ELA and Math), and includes a daily CTE component.

Refers to a specific pedagogy supported by the online digital learning environment Brightspace. Through this environment, instructors engage with students, provide learning activities and materials, and conduct assessments. Student can expect to find engagement, activities and assessment, provided by their instructors, to fully participate in the course. Distance education is an attractive option for individuals who need flexibility and are self-motivated and can work independently. There is no difference in what you are expected to learn; it is the modality delivery that is different. The different types of online education courses include: Online (ONLINE) – engagement and instruction is provided by the professor through Brightspace the college’s learning management system, and students interact with faculty, other students and content working on their own time while adhering to course deadlines; Hybrid/Blended –Instructors meet with students in a classroom on one of the campus locations and the balance of the instruction takes place in Brightspace; or the instructor meets with students in a virtual classroom i.e. Zoom and the balance of the instruction takes place in Brightspace.
