Specializes in serving children in need of a highly structured learning environment and present with autism spectrum disorders or PDD (pervasive development disorder). Classes are small, allowing for an intensive learning environment. Students learn appropriate on-task "school-like" behaviors and how to be as independent as possible. CRC utilized the Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to shape behaviors and teach new skills through repetition and reinforcement. Instruction targets Activities of Daily Living (ADL). A progressive total communication system is utilized including spoken words, photographs, pictures, symbols and/or sign language to increase communication skills. The Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) is used to engage students in a social exchange for requesting and/or communicating their needs. Additionally, we have specially trained staff that may address any mealtime management concerns, such as limited food repertoire. A collaborative team including teachers, social workers, psychologist, occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech therapists, and administrative personnel strives to meet the individualized educational needs of each child. All students benefit from an adapted physical education and music program. Family input is encouraged and parent training is provided throughout the school year. Day and evening workshops assist parents with skill development and behavioral interventions and ongoing support groups are facilitated by the social worker. Call for more detailed information.

Serves grades Toddler, Nursery, Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st grade ungraded and inclusive.

Preschool program operates five developmentally appropriate preschool classrooms in Saranac Lake, Tupper Lake, Fort Covington and Malone. We serve Children from ages 3-5, providing special education and speech, physical, occupational and play therapies to those who show a need for such services.

DBCH provides a special preschool, in conjunction with the child's school district, for those children with special needs.

Creates multi-agency and public/private partnerships with Early Head Start and Head Start programs at the state level. These partnerships are intended to help build early childhood systems, enhance access to comprehensive services for low-income families, encourage collaboration among Head Start and other programs and services, and facilitate the involvement of Head Start in state policies, plans, processes and decisions affecting Head Start target populations. Priority issues are violence prevention, service acquisition, information access and coordination of planning and policy with other state, public, and private programs.

Provides a full day program in a integrated setting which enrolls children with special needs and typical developing children. The class setting offers individualized and small groups of various subjects, working at the levels of verbal behavior which range from emergent listener to emergent reader/writer.

Provides intellectual, artistic, and athletic experiences which promote honesty, responsibility, confidence and respect for others. Offers Early Childhood education through Nursery, Pre-K and Kindergarten and Grades 1 through 9.

Early Head Start, federally authorized and funded preschool and early childhood education for low income children ages birth to five in Rockland County.

Provides education to students from Pre-K through 12th grade.

Provides an early intervention program, a therapeutic nursery/day care, and a preschool which includes an Article 28 clinic for those children requiring physical, occupational and speech therapies and other intervention services, due to various delays and disabilities such as learning, behavior, emotional, speech, feeding/oral-motor, orthopedics, fine motor, etc. The programs offer half and full day sessions.

Adirondack Helping Hands, Inc. provides specialized services to children ages birth to five years, through either Early Intervention or the Preschool Special Education Program. Our teams conduct evaluations to determine if a child has specific needs related to their development, along with any of the services a child may need. Therapy for either program can address any developmental concerns regarding Physical, Communication, Cognitive, Social-Emotional, and/or Adaptive skills.
