Chemung County School Readiness Project is an initiative to ensure that children arrive at school socially, cognitively, physically and emotionally ready to learn. CIDS provides face to face services to the families of infants and preschoolers, provides child development screening until child enters school, makes in person or virtual visits to support the health and welfare of child and families. Provides both skill-building parent education curricula.

Provides Head Start and child care opportunities for children ages 6 months to 5 years.

Provides an early childhood/parent education program with home visits twice a week designed to support school readiness and build parenting skills for children ranging from 16 months to 4 years.

Offers integrated services to prepare young children for successful learning through four critical services areas including nursing home visits, early care and education, parent education and healthcare. Programming is offered through a collaborative effort of many agencies throughout the county.

Provides an early childhood/parent education program with home visits twice a week designed to support school readiness and build parenting skills for children ranging from 16 months to 4 years.

Offers recreational, educational and cultural programming as well as print and multimedia materials for borrowing, computer and Internet access, computer instruction, online resources, interlibrary loan, a video magnifier and assistive devices and software, information and referral, homebound services, a community room for meetings, and a tutoring space.

This series is designed to assist parents of toddlers and preschoolers understand and help develop the skills. It includes interactive early literacy and numeracy activities, discussions about appropriate media usage and an exploration of the importance of play.

An intensive school-readiness home visitation program for toddlers and parents. Trained Early Learning Specialists visit families in their homes for one half-hour twice a week for a minimum of 23 weeks, for up to two program years. The Early Learning Specialist bring educational books and toys, which are used to develop early literacy and school readiness skills, increase the parent-child verbal interaction, model positive parenting, and promote pro-social behaviors. Learning materials gifted to the family serve the additional purpose of creating an educational environment in the home that generalizes to other siblings and serves as a bridge to starting school.

Offers several classes which are age-specific, The 2's program, 3-4's program and Kindergarten ready program. The cirruculum for each focuses on the needs and development of each specific age group and activities to booster mental, social, physical and intellectual growth.

Provides an 8 week, 1 hour per week separation class for children 2 years and up to help ease a young child into a preschool setting. During the program, children can be with their parents and parents can see their children when they want or need to.

Provides help to parents preparing young children for school, through various programs where both can participate in fun and educational activities.

Provides a comprehensive early childhood development program for children ages 3-5 of low income families, as well as family support services. Specific education, health and social services objectives focus on cognitive and intellectual development, physical and mental health, as well as the nutritional needs of the child. Offers a program designed to promote the development of educationally at-risk pre-school children, ParentChild+ sends trained home visitors into participants’ homes to help parents become their children’s first teacher and make home their first classroom. Home visitors teach parents to increase children’s vocabulary through conversation, reading together, and play. They also assist children to develop pre-literacy skills so they will be on a par with their peers when they enter Pre-K. Developmentally appropriate books and toys are used to foster language development and pre-literacy skills. Children of families that participate in this two-year program begin their formal school experiences with a vocabulary that is on a par with children from “middle income” families. Research shows ParentChild+ children continue to achieve academically at the same level or better through the 4th- and 8th-grade standardized tests. Call for more detailed information.

Offers a Pre-Kindergarten program for 4 year olds eligible for kindergarten the following September in either Connetquot or Middle Country School Districts. Connetquot offers a half day comprehensive early childhood education program. Middle County offers a 6.5 hour day. Activities promote social, emotional, physical and cognitive development. Provides specialized meditation for disputes that include students with disabilities, parents/guardians of children who are receiving early childhood intervention services, agricultural mediation, and conflict coaching to assist individuals with one-on-one strategizing for conflict resolution.

Provides an in-home school readiness program with twice weekly visits with the family, bringing a new book or toy for the child to keep and model for the parents' fun ways to help their child learn through play.

Focuses on building relationships with families to support parents in realizing their role as their children's first and most important teacher and the positive impact they will have on their child's academic success. Early literacy, math, cognitive, and social-emotional skills are developed in an effort to decrease the preparation/achievement gap for children living in poverty and to start them on the path to school success.

Provides a culturally responsive learning environment with dual-language for children from birth to 5 years and their parents/caregivers. Learning activities take place at learning centers, in the community, and in the home.
