Goals of the Institute for Family Forensic Psychology include: to help parents responsibly manage their conflict; provide evaluative information to help determine strength and needs of the parents and children, and to provide therapeutic programs for children and families going through divorce and/or other family reorganizations. Services provided by IFFP include: Individual psychotherapy to children and families going through reorganization; Family therapy for high conflict court involved families; Psychotherapy for families involved in the child protective system; Children of Divorce Groups; Therapeutic Visitation; Co-parenting counseling; Evaluations; Forensic Custody and Visitation Evaluations; Court ordered Psychological Evaluations; Child Protection Evaluations and PEACE Program. Represents a cooperative effort between the Suffolk County Community College and the Longwood Central School District, governmental agencies and business and industry to provide a unique, comprehensive and supportive environment for students for students who may be at risk of dropping out of school. LPP is funded by a grant from the New York State Education Department. The Liberty Partnerships Program serves those students in grades 7-12 who may not be reaching their academic potential by providing academic services that will improve their ability to complete high school and successfully enter postsecondary education or the workforce. LPP students who are juniors and seniors are also eligible to enroll in a two-semester program that leads successful students to one college credit upon completion. This offering contains a one-semester non-credit course that focuses on reading, writing, study skills, critical thinking and computer skills. The second semester course exposes students to topics of interest to college students and enhances their basic research skills. Additional credit-bearing courses are offered to students who successfully complete this sequence. Programs include: Individual Assessment: Each student is administered a series of diagnostic tests which measures educational achievement, physical factors and intellectual potential. Detailed development history interview completes the appraisal. An individual program is designed for each client based on the results of the evaluation. Literacy (Reading) Instruction is on a one-to-one basis. The major goal of this program is to develop reading, writing, spelling and study skill strategies. Written summary reports detail outcomes and recommendations. Special Education (Learning) This program is designed to assist students to improve school related tasks. Working with guidance from our camp and program director(s), CTAP participants will observe and assist in all aspects of the camp program and daily activities, whilst receiving performance feedback in a constructive environment, helping to build self-confidence and interpersonal skills. CTAP participants will be assigned a program for a given camp session from the CTAP director and camp administrative staff. Program placement can/will vary through the summer to provide a well-balanced experience, and although requests can be made, there are no guarantees for specific program placement for all enrolled weeks, but we will do our best to ensure a great experience. All programs run weekly from Monday to Friday and camp hours are 9:00am-4:00pm. Extended Hours are available with Early Drop-Off (8am) and Late Pick-Up (5:30pm) options. Additional charges apply.
