This 600-hour, full-time Esthetics program is located at the Western Suffolk BOCES Northport campus. Those who satisfactorily complete this Esthetics program are eligible to take the New York State exam that leads to a license in Esthetics. Your NYS Esthetics license will help you find job opportunities with flexible hours, financial stability and job satisfaction in Nassau County, Suffolk County, and New York City. Students enjoy practicing on classmates and clinic clients as they study anatomy and physiology, bacteriology, sterilization, structure and function of the skin, facial procedures, use of various machines, waxing, basic make-up techniques, and business practices. Successful completion of the Esthetics program at Western Suffolk BOCES prepares you to sit for the New York State Esthetics licensing exam and includes 30-hour Laser Hair Removal certification. It thus offers an affordable means for academically qualified students to prepare themselves for admission into professional programs in this field. Offers a rigorous boot camp-style certificate program which transforms learners with no programming background into web developers and front-end developers who can build omnichannel, consumer-facing, rich front-end single-page applications (SPAs) using cutting-edge web technologies such as Core Java, HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap, JavaScript, Mocha, Chai and Angular. Boot camp courses are taught 100 percent virtually through our proprietary learning management system with a combination of asynchronous and synchronous sessions via Zoom. Learn the skills and knowledge necessary to be a valuable member of today’s health care team as you work under the direction of nurses, doctors or other authorized health care provider. The School of Practical Nursing at Western Suffolk BOCES is approved by the New York State Education Department and accredited by the Council on Occupational Education. BOCES’ program offers a low student-to-teacher ratio that allows many opportunities for highly personalized, hands-on instruction. The School prepares students to work with patients and medical staff in medical facilities including nursing homes. Students are then assigned to a clinical site at one of Long Island’s excellent health care facilities where they work under the guidance of an experienced health care professional. Classes are held at Wilson Technological Center’s Northport campus. Those who successfully complete the New York State-approved Practical Nursing program at BOCES meet the qualifications for admission to the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nursing (NCLEX-PN). Offers a 7-week course, each semester, to help immigrants to prepare for the citizenship exam. This course is designed for individuals whose English is at least at a high-beginning level (ELI Level 3+). Students will learn about American history and government to prepare them for the civics portion of the exam, and will practice their English skills to prepare for the reading, writing, and speaking portions of the exam. By the end of the course, students will also be familiar with the structure of the Citizenship interview.

Offers an 18-credit Advanced Certificate in Infrastructure Security Management where you will learn to use advanced technology for fire protection, crime prevention, and environmental monitoring. Through a flexible curriculum, you’ll learn to ensure that critical systems, such as backup power, life safety equipment, and water infrastructure, are fully operational and in compliance with all regulatory requirements. You’ll work directly with faculty who have industry expertise in facilities management, contingency planning, security systems, and risk assessment. Empowers adults to reach their highest potential as learners, parents, consumers and citizens through education and technology. Courses are offered in: English For Speakers Of Other Languages; Adult Basic Education; Preparation for The General Education Development Test (GED® Test); National External Diploma Program; Guidance and Counseling Services and Workplace Skill Development. In addition the Long Beach Literacy Zone and Family Welcome Center provides assessment, case management and support services. Services and offerings include ESOL classes, GED preparation, Adult Basic Education, academic counseling, family literacy, social services referrals and case management. The welcome center hub assesses the needs, goals and barriers to education for participants and supports families along a pathway out of poverty. Courses are available across our areas of study and do carry credits. Courses are available as space and resources allow. Financial aid is not available for nondegree study.
