The following workshops are offered: Identifying and Reporting Suspected Child Abuse; Prevention and Intervention of School Violence (SAVE); Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) and Autism Workshop. Offers a 120 hour Dietary Managers Program. This is a two-semester course which trains and educates food service managers. This course has been granted full approval by the Association of Nutrition and Food Service Professionals (ANFP). Graduates are eligible for membership in the ANFP and may take the National Certification Examination for Dietary Managers. Offers residents of Nassau, Suffolk and Queens a unique Certified Financial Planner Program with a curriculum focused on developing 21st century financial planning skills. This intensive program prepares accountants, attorneys, bankers, insurance agents, brokers, security representatives and other professionals to better help their clients achieve their financial goals. In association with the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc., Hofstra University Continuing Education also offers this program to prepare individuals with the educational requirements to qualify for the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) exam. Offers a 160-hour program composed of a sequence of noncredit courses that leads to a clear level of competence in American Sign Language. The certificate is awarded to students who successfully complete all required courses plus eight (8) workshops of the student’s choice. The courses and workshops in this program are continually updated and rotated in the summer, spring and fall. Affiliated instructors are members of both the hearing and deaf communities. Learn the necessary skills to work with a dental team to provide patients with an excellent experience. Students will participate in online instruction to develop career skills for the Health IT workforce. The Health IT online program is approximately 140-hours of online instruction that includes instruction, simulations, a Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Exam Review and job preparation and career coaching. In addition, students will earn a Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification and participate in a 30-hour externship in a medical facility. Students will learn the practical knowledge and skills required to fill the Health IT roles in a variety of health care settings. Students will be introduced to eClinics, an electronic health record practice management software system used in the medical field. Upon successful completion of the program, students will take the certification exam administered by Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS). The program is designed for individuals who wish to begin a career in education as well as for individuals presently employed in area school districts who wish to or need to upgrade their professional credentials to meet New York State and/or local district guidelines. Offers an opportunity for high school juniors and seniors who attend our partner school districts to earn college credits while having an experience of college life. Students enroll in college classes and interact with college faculty, staff and other students. ECP students can earn college-level credits while continuing to complete high school. All classes are taught by college professors, and ECP students are integrated into classes with college students. Each program participant is assigned an ECP counselor. With guidance from the College’s Program staff, students select classes from the general education program or take a sequence of courses in a particular curriculum. Enrollment in courses through Suffolk’s Early College Program generates an official Suffolk academic transcript for each student. Successfully earned credits are accepted at Suffolk or can be transferred to a multitude of other colleges and universities. Acceptance of credit for college-level course work is under the domain of the receiving colleges and universities with general acceptance within State University of New York (SUNY) institutions. Graduates of the program have gone on to notable two and four-year institutions, including Suffolk County Community College and are strong candidates for their Honor’s Program.
