In addition to helping adult students prepare for the TASC exam and earn their High School Equivalency Diploma, the Adult and Community Education Department offers Adult Basic Education classes for students to improve their reading, writing, and math skills. Students work at their own pace with the help of a certified teacher. Career Counseling and Case Management is available to all students and classes are open to individuals 17 years of age or older regardless of residency. English as an Alternate Language and Citizenship programming are also offered at the main building and at an addendum site in the morning and evening.

Maintains five regional offices throughout Suffolk County in the following public libraries: Amityville, Huntington (Huntington Station Branch), Mastics-Moriches-Shirley, Middle Country, Riverhead, and the Adult Literacy Center on the campus of Stony Brook.
