Offers a course in Dental Assisting. Train to become an important part of a professional dental office. Learn the necessary skills to work with a dental team to provide patients with an excellent experience. Prepare to assist with all dental procedures including four-handed dentistry, tray set-ups, infection control and sterilization techniques. Study dental anatomy, oral cancer detection, radiology, and the uses of instruments and equipment. In addition, participate in an externship program and gain administrative and communication skills to make a dental office run smoothly. Offers an amazing public high school program that has transformed the lives of young emerging artists from across Long Island through both its high school and summer programs. LIHSA is a Career and Technical Education (CTE) program. Under New York State’s “4+1” pathway assessment option, students must take and pass four required Regents Exams or Department Approved Alternative assessments and complete a comparably rigorous pathway to meet the fifth assessment requirement for graduation. Students can now do this with completion of the Career and Technical Education-approved exam and the core sequence of classes at LIHSA. Our 38,000 square feet of studios and workshops across three buildings are filled with professional workspaces and facilities. Offers a program designed to promote the development of educationally at-risk pre-school children, ParentChild+ sends trained home visitors into participants’ homes to help parents become their children’s first teacher and make home their first classroom. Home visitors teach parents to increase children’s vocabulary through conversation, reading together, and play. They also assist children to develop pre-literacy skills so they will be on a par with their peers when they enter Pre-K. Developmentally appropriate books and toys are used to foster language development and pre-literacy skills. Children of families that participate in this two-year program begin their formal school experiences with a vocabulary that is on a par with children from “middle income” families. Research shows ParentChild+ children continue to achieve academically at the same level or better through the 4th- and 8th-grade standardized tests. Call for more detailed information.

Meets the unique learning needs of students who are emotionally, behaviorally, or developmentally disabled to a mild/moderate degree through three distinct programs on a closed campus. The Nassau Education and Treatment (NET) Program which is a collaborative effort between Nassau BOCES, Sagamore Children's Psychiatric Hospital (Phase I) and North Shore Child & Family Guidance Center (Phase II). This meets the therapeutic, medical and learning needs for students diagnosed with various psychiatric disorders. The instructional program is aligned to the New York State Learning Standards and addresses students' cognitive levels and learning styles. Students are given the opportunity to: Earn a New York State Regents diploma or other state approved high school diploma and earn college credits through a partnership with S.U.N.Y Farmingdale State College. The Modified High School Program is designed to meet the learning and behavioral needs of students with varying abilities. The curriculum balances transitional and prevocational skills training, functional academics and New York State Learning standards. The instruction is aligned to the Career Development and Occupational Studies (CDOS) standards and leads to a Skills and Achievement Commencement Credential (SACC). The Life Skills Enrichment Program, offers a daily living skills curriculum with a functional academic base to develop job readiness skills. The instruction is aligned with the Skills and Achievement Commencement Credential (SACC). Students participate in non-paid internships at public and non-profit facilities and agencies, such as supermarkets, offices, parks and small businesses supervised by Nassau BOCES staff and on-site personnel to learn a variety of entry level skills. CCA’s behavior support program encourages positive choices, recognizes student achievement and supports the school mission to provide specially designed instruction to meet the social-emotional, academic, behavioral and transitional needs of students. Offers a Clinical Medical Assistant - Intensive program. This program will help you start a career in medicine as a Clinical Medical Assistant and take your first steps in a job opportunity program. Prepare for the Certified Health Professionals Certification exams to become employed as a Medical Assistant, Electrocardiograph Technician or Phlebotomy Technician. The 160-hour clinical externship springboards you into starting your career. Study human anatomy, medical terminology, hematology, phlebotomy, and electrocardiography. Learn the skills to assist with medical emergencies, physical exams, and laboratory testing. Perform live venipuncture and capillary puncture procedures. Professional skills to assist in medical offices, hospitals and health care facilities will be taught along with a 160-hour supervised clinical externship rotation.
