TRIO Adult Educational Opportunity Center (AEOC @ GCC)

The free TRIO EOC program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, hosted at SUNY Genesee Community College (GCC) provides free support to aid community members in applying to, funding and enrolling in further education. The purpose of the program is to help participants achieve their educational and career goals. Staff are knowledgeable and skilled in the fields of high school equivalencies, higher education applications and processes, state and federal financial aid, veteran and family-of-veteran education benefits, and scholarship opportunities available at the local, state, and national levels. Program offers individualized one-on-one appointments with highly-trained Outreach Specialists who can assist with: - College and trade school applications - Financial aid applications and scholarship searches - High school equivalency options - Career counseling and vocational training options - Educational opportunities for veterans - Financial literacy and planning Although hosted by SUNY GCC, the program does not recruit on behalf of the college, per grant requirement. Planned Parenthood of Central and Western New York, The Connection

A free after-school drop-in center for teens in Niagara Falls, serving adolescent teens ages 11-19. The Connection Coordinator, members of the Teen Peer Program, and Community Trainers lead lively discussions and educational sessions as well as cooking classes, book clubs, and opportunities for youth to develop their community leadership skills. Contests, field trips and other activities are chosen and developed by teen members attending. Members can spend time studying or completing homework, relaxing in a safe space, and engaging in structured programs. Meals or snacks are served daily. Connection members also benefit from informal mentoring, tutoring, a video game lounge, service learning activities, character building, teen employment preparation and employer linkages, college preparation, media production, computer and printer access.

Youth & Family Services - CCA

Offers school-based and family-based approaches to preventing out-of-home placement of at-risk youth in all school districts throughout Cattaraugus County. (Families & Schools Together, Truancy Prevention, Family Group Conferencing, etc.) CPS Contract Cases: A program designed to prevent the need for future CPS involvement by engaging families who are experiencing challenges early, providing support to build family resiliency, and helping families develop neighborhood and community-based supports. Referrals are accepted from CPS county-wide. Home Visiting Program: An in-home parenting program that provides parenting skills and structure in a one-on-one setting. Program addresses safety and risk in the home and works on identifying goals within the family. Parenting Workshop: A seven-week parenting class that uses the Active Parenting model. Parenting skills are taught in classroom/group settings. Supervised Visitation: Arranged and set up such that non-custodial parents have access to their children in a safe environment. Supervised visits are utilized as a safety measure to ensure that children are safe, while also allowing parents to build relationships with their children. Parenting skills and support are provided to both the parents and the children during the visits. New Pathways to Responsible Fatherhood Initiative: The focus of the group is to promote fatherhood and the importance of being a positive male role model for children. The group is open to any male who plays a role in a child's life (Father, Step-Father, Grandfather, Uncle, Friend).

NASSAU DAY TRAINING PROGRAM | ZUCKER HILLSIDE HOSPITAL/NORTHWELL HEALTH

The Nassau Day Training Program provides both vocational and community integration services and serves as a job placement center for special needs populations in Nassau County. Our program provides outreach and/or mentorship to those with severe persistent mental illness and co- occurring disorders that may also include co-morbid health issues. The overall mission is to assist those in our program to enter the workplace as quickly as possible. We work with our program members to achieve increased community integration and independent functioning to prepare them for work. During the course of the program they may experience different levels of integration and independent functioning: developing work readiness, volunteer placement or actual competitive employment. In addition we offer Adult Career and Continuing Education Services Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR) sponsored services such as Diagnostic Vocational Evaluations, Supported Employment Services and Office Skills Training and Placement.

PREMM LEARNING CENTER MIDDLE SCHOOL LEVEL PROGRAMS | PREMM LEARNING CENTER @ STONY BROOK HOSPITAL INPATIENT PROGRAM

Offers programs to students ages 11 – 12 in grades 6th – 8th. The Middle School Level Programs include: The Center-Based Functional Academic Skills Program. The Functional Academic Skills Program at Premm Learning Center services students with moderate to severe development disabilities. The primary goal of the program is to maximize each student's potential and to teach skills that will enable them to become as independent as possible within the confines of their disability. Program components include academics with an emphasis on functional skill development, utilizing a modified Common Core Curriculum. Behavior management, independent living and social skills are also addressed. Functional assessments of behavior and behavior intervention plans are implemented for support when needed. The 12:1:4 Program at Premm Learning Center emphasizes a multi-sensory approach to learning. Emphasis is placed on improving cognition, sensory motor skills development and use of adaptive equipment to aid movement and independence. Students placed in the 12:1:4 class component are non-ambulatory and are dependent upon staff for meeting their needs throughout the school day. Classroom instruction is provided with hand over hand assistance. Related services of speech, occupational therapy and physical therapy are provided on a group push-in basis. All students are assessed using the New York State Alternate Assessment. Programs are offered at various locations.
