A free college and career access program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education and hosted at SUNY Genesee Community College. AEOC provides free support to aid community members in applying to, funding and enrolling in further education. The purpose of the program is to help participants achieve their educational and career goals. Staff are knowledgeable and skilled in the fields of high school equivalencies, higher education applications and processes, state and federal financial aid, veteran and family-of-veteran education benefits, and scholarship opportunities available at the local, state, and national levels. Program offers individualized one-on-one appointments with highly-trained Outreach Specialists who can assist with: - College and trade school applications - Financial aid applications and scholarship searches - High school equivalency options - Career counseling and vocational training options - Educational opportunities for veterans - Financial literacy and planning Although hosted by SUNY GCC, the program does not recruit on behalf of the college, per grant requirement. Facility has a 226-seat theater, banquet hall, gymnasium, locker room, multi-purpose rooms, commercial kitchen, library, and computer training lab. Programs include: ATTAIN Lab computer classes including Microsoft Office, fundamentals of email and the internet, interview skills, resume building, employment counseling, Healthy Cooking Classes, After School Program, Kids Cafe provides after school meals for children and youth in grades K-12 which runs from September - June, "Livin' Large" tutorial program, mentoring program, youth leadership program, "Let's Talk" Teen Girls Program, and many other social, educational, and recreational activities. Students review the math, reading, writing, vocabulary and grammar skills on the exam, and learn test-taking strategies to help them work faster and more confidently to maximize their score. The Brookhaven Learning Center provides a continuum of services for students with moderate to severe developmental disabilities. Students participate in a modified New York State Curriculum with an emphasis on life skills. Serves students ages 12-21 in grades 7th-12th at the Middle School and Secondary Level. The Brookhaven Learning Center is offered at various locations.

Provides community meeting space, food pantry referrals, special events, family activities, and technology center / computer lab. Senior programming includes exercise, movies, parties, senior council meetings, bingo, nutrition program for seniors, and field trips. Youth programming includes an after school program for children 5-10 years old, 4-H programs, homework help, teen and adolescent life skills, youth and teen recreation, summer day camp, and homework assistance. Also provided are youth sports, adult sports and recreation, adult athletic leagues, exercise programs, and a fitness room. Serves as a City of Buffalo Cooling Center during times of extreme heat and as a Warming Center during times of extreme cold. Always call ahead to make sure a Cooling/Warming Center is open before going there.

Offers a secondary school that empowers students to develop functional academic, personal, and pre-vocational skills. Our mission is to encourage independence and self-advocacy, and to prepare students to successfully transition from the school environment to post-school options. Skilled staff, in partnership with families, districts and the community, provides quality instruction and services to students. Diverse educational strategies, aligned with the Common Core Learning Standards, offer curriculum accessing real life settings, in conjunction with community-based education and work experiences. Together, these provide unique opportunities to enrich each student's education. The strength of the Brookhaven Learning Center lies in the integration of these dynamics which are designed to maximize opportunities so that each student can achieve his/her fullest potential. The Brookhaven Learning Center provides a continuum of services for students with moderate to severe developmental disabilities. Students participate in a modified New York State Curriculum with an emphasis on life skills. Serves students ages 12-21 in grades 7th-12th at the Middle School and Secondary Level. Classroom options are 8:1:1+4; 8:1:1+2; 8:1:1+3; 8:1:1 and .12:1:1. Students are classified as: Autism; Intellectual Disability; Traumatic Brain Injury; Multiple Disabilities and Other Health Impairment. Also offered is The Transition Services Program which provides a half or full day applied academics program, which emphasizes life and employability skills to students with mild to moderate developmental disabilities. By utilizing a variety of simulated and real-life settings students are prepared to transition from school to post-secondary outcomes. Included in the Transition Services Program is the Work Activities Center (WAC) for students sixteen to twenty-one, who meet established criteria, to have a volunteer work experience in the community under the direct supervision of a job coach. The Brookhaven Learning Center is offered at various locations.
