HEMSTEAD LADDERS TO SUCCESS | MAIN STREET HEMPSTEAD LOCATION

Ladders to Success, located at FCA's Learning Center, will prepare identified High School students in Mathematics, Algebra, Reading and English to attain the placement test scores they need to avoid remedial classes and immediately access credit-bearing classes at Nassau Community College and beyond. Services include Mentoring and counseling, tutoring to prepare for the accuplacer test, career readiness and vocational planning services, financial aid and FAFSA application assistance, guidance throughout the college application process from start to finish. Workshop learning topics include: dealing with anxieties, mindfulness, bullying, cultural diversity, and more.

EKG TECHNICIAN | NASSAU COMMUNITY COLLEGE CONTINUING EDUCATION & WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

Offers a comprehensive course that will prepare students to sit for the EKG Technician National Healthcareer Association (NHA) certification exam. Students will be introduced to the basic anatomy and physiology terminology associated with the heart and circulatory systems, signs and symptoms of diseases, and the electrophysiology/conduction system of the heart. Other topics that are covered include medical terminology, medical ethics, legal aspects of patient contact, and stress testing. Students will be taught to use and operate ECG equipment. Lab sessions will provide hands-on practice for proper lead placement, 12-lead placement and other clinical practices, as well as allow students to meet the requirement for performing EKGs on live individuals. The course has 60 hours of instructor-led sessions in the classroom. Students must attend all classes and complete assignments, including all practical skills. To sit for the NHA certifying exam, candidates must meet the requirements specified by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA), including a high school diploma or equivalent. PRACTICAL NURSING PROGRAM | WESTERN SUFFOLK BOCES WILSON TECH NORTHPORT CAMPUS

Learn the skills and knowledge necessary to be a valuable member of today’s health care team as you work under the direction of nurses, doctors or other authorized health care provider. The School of Practical Nursing at Western Suffolk BOCES is approved by the New York State Education Department and accredited by the Council on Occupational Education. BOCES’ program offers a low student-to-teacher ratio that allows many opportunities for highly personalized, hands-on instruction. The School prepares students to work with patients and medical staff in medical facilities including nursing homes. Students are then assigned to a clinical site at one of Long Island’s excellent health care facilities where they work under the guidance of an experienced health care professional. Classes are held at Wilson Technological Center’s Northport campus. Those who successfully complete the New York State-approved Practical Nursing program at BOCES meet the qualifications for admission to the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nursing (NCLEX-PN). HOME INSPECTION | MOLLOY SUFFOLK CENTER

Offers two programs in Home Inspection at Molloy College: one program for currently licensed home inspectors to maintain their NY State license and another for individuals to become licensed in NY State. Both programs are offered at our Rockville Centre, as well as at our Suffolk Center at Republic Airport. Molloy College offers continuing education courses for home inspectors to maintain their New York State license. Molloy College offers a New York state-approved program for you to become a licensed home inspector. Molloy College offers the approved 140-hour course of study consisting of the 5 Modules. The following five modules are offered: Home Inspection Module 1: Structure, roofing and exteriors; Home Inspection Module 2: Interiors, electrical systems, insulation and ventilation; Home Inspection Module 3: Heating, cooling and plumbing; Home Inspection Module 4: License law, overview of profession and report writing and Home Inspection Module 5: Field training.
