Chautauqua Striders Tutoring

Offers tutoring programs at a number of locations. On-Track Tutoring: Available for small group (1:5 ratio) or one-to-one tutoring to any student or any grade in Chautauqua County. SAFARI Program: Available to students at Jamestown High School at no cost to families. Students can schedule small group and one-to-one tutoring sessions during their school day. 21st Century/After School Program: Tutors in this program provide in-person academic interventions to students in the Jamestown district, grades K-8 at Love, Ring, Bush, Lincoln, and Fletcher Elementary Schools and Washington and Jefferson Middle Schools. Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP): Run through Jamestown Community College, this program prepares high school students to succeed in post-secondary education or training. The program helps the class of 2028 Jamestown and Dunkirk students into their first year of college. Services include free tutoring services during and after school, assistance explore personalized college and career possibilities and applying for financial aid. SAT and Regents Prep available depending on enrollment needs. Striders tutors are also available at the Boys & Girls Club after school program, Monday-Thursday.

Gloria J. Parks Community Center

Provides community meeting space, food pantry referrals, special events, family activities, and technology center / computer lab. Senior programming includes exercise, movies, parties, senior council meetings, bingo, nutrition program for seniors, and field trips. Youth programming includes an after school program for children 5-10 years old, 4-H programs, homework help, teen and adolescent life skills, youth and teen recreation, summer day camp, and homework assistance. Also provided are youth sports, adult sports and recreation, adult athletic leagues, exercise programs, and a fitness room. Serves as a City of Buffalo Cooling Center during times of extreme heat and as a Warming Center during times of extreme cold. Always call ahead to make sure a Cooling/Warming Center is open before going there.

Provides after-school academic assistance designed to meet the specific needs of elementary school students from refugee families, with an emphasis on reading, writing, and speaking English. Offers one-on-one homework help and tutoring in reading and math, along with educational and recreational activities, field trips, and opportunities to socialize with friends. A project-based learning curriculum provides a structured atmosphere, allowing for positive enforcement of pro-social behaviors. Book clubs work at each student's ability level to increase their comfort with and love of reading. Also offers a 6-week summer program.

Sheridan Youth Center - Town of Tonawanda

Provides recreation opportunities to students ages 4 years old through 7th grade. Offers a full gym and game room with a variety of table games like pool, foosball, hockey, and ping pong. Homework help is available from staff and volunteers. Provides a recreation program open to students in 6th-12th grade, including basketball, several youth activities, and field trips.

Youth Empowerment Program - Salvation Army Buffalo

Works to meet the growing needs of all youth in our community, with daily activities that include access to tutors for homework help as well as a variety of sports, leadership challenges, educational adventures, field trips. All programs are led by certified and trained staff, music and dance instructors, athletic trainers and coaches we provide a variety of enrichment opportunities for all enrolled to choose from. The Youth Empowerment is broken up into 3 major components: After School Programming, Summer Camp, and Prime Time programming in the later evening.

YouthWorks - Town of Amherst Youth & Recreation Department

A year round service that works as a liaison between Amherst residents who need assistance with extra jobs in or around their home and Amherst youth ages 12-20 who are interested in working with these residents. Teens fill out an application indicating what kind of work they are willing to do. Residents call to make a request for assistance, detailing the kind of work they need done. A teen participant is then contacted about the job possibility and given the details of the job and the contact information for the resident. The teen contacts the resident to discuss the date/time of the job duties, date/time of the job, and pay. Due to safety concerns, requests for work involving climbing ladders, roof work, carrying heavy/large objects up or down stairs, or anything that would require driving are not honored. Work opportunities available include: raking, shoveling, mowing, weeding, gardening, tutoring, putting away shopping, errand running, pet care, child care, assisting elderly/disabled, computer tutoring, basement/garage cleaning, help with parties, and light housework.
