• Rabies Prevention (receive notification of all dog bites in the county and work with the person that was bitten to make sure they get screened for rabies risk and the need for post-exposure prophylaxis).
• Lead Poisoning Prevention (works with families of children at risk for, or with an elevated blood lead level to reduce that child's level). Testing is not provided by public health but a referral is made to the NYS office.
• Immunization Program (provides mandatory and optional vaccines for the county residents)
• Communicable Disease Program (investigates and coordinates with other agencies on reports of State-defined communicable diseases).

* Provides a linkage of families and individuals who have a brain injury, which includes:

• Family Advocacy: Support and counseling, connecting family with funding resources, housing, transportation, and service providers
• Educational Advocacy: Support and counseling for educational needs after a brain injury, helping family with IEP process, and attendance at CSE meetings
• Outreach: Connection with service providers, hospitals, schools, etc. to increase awareness of BIANYS, traumatic and acquired brain injury, and increasing FACTS enrollment
• Prevention: Connection with service providers, hospitals, schools, etc. to teach injury prevention and safety
• Training: Connection with service providers, hospitals, schools, etc. to conducts training's about traumatic and acquired brain injury

Licensed Homecare Services provides intermittent skilled nursing, dietitian and social work home visits primarily to families, parents and children. Home visits focus on parent education related to child growth and development, antepartum and postpartum care of mother and baby, and assessment of family needs for referrals to other community services. This is the Central intake point for all maternal and pediatric home visiting services within Schenectady County.
