Ensures the observation of state and local laws for the protection of life, property and the natural resources in Islip's marine district. Works closely with Suffolk County Marine Police and the U.S. Coast Guard in their law enforcement, and search and rescue missions.

Regulates activities along the wetlands and shoreline of Town, including structural improvements to property, excavation and filling within 75 feet of wetlands or open water, dredging, construction of docks, ramps, floats, pilings, moorings, bulkheads, or any stabilization structures. Grants permits including coastal erosion permits, wetland permits, trustee land permits, grandfather permits and waivers from the full application process.
