Environmental Health Services - Cattaraugus County Health Department

Responsible for septic systems, inspections and permit issuance, drinking water testing, public health hazards and nuisances, clean indoor air enforcement, onsite wastewater treatment system regulation, rabies investigations and vaccinations, insect control, West Nile Virus surveillance. Rabies vaccinations: Conducts free rabies vaccination clinics for dogs, cats and domesticated ferrets in several locations across Cattaraugus County. All Cattaraugus County residents are eligible for these free vaccinations. Rabies Disease & Vector Control Program - ECDOH

Through enforcement, education, and other disease prevention activities, is responsible for the following health programs: Rabies Prevention: Conducts investigations of domestic animal bites and scratches and wildlife encounters between people and/or their pets. Free Rabies Vaccination Clinics for dogs, cats, and ferrets. Rodent Control: Responds to complaints and service requests regarding rodent infestations; baiting available for eligible properties. Public Health Nuisance Complaints (Public Health Nuisance = anything dangerous to human life or detrimental to health): Conducts investigations of complaints such as, but not limited to: properties that have rodent infestations, improperly stored garbage, junk and debris, improper bird and wildlife feeding, dog feces not cleaned up and disposed of properly. Arbovirus Prevention (Arbovirus = viruses transmitted by bloodsucking arthropods such as ticks, fleas, or mosquitoes): Conducts investigations of complaints such as standing water, improperly maintained swimming pools, and other man-made containers that hold water and create mosquito harborage. Environmental Health Division - Chautauqua County Health Department

Conducts property transfer surveys which includes bacteriological water analysis and testing of on-site waste water treatment systems. Regulates all public water supplies as defined by Part 5 of the NYS Sanitary Code. Oversees cooling tower registry and reviews water testing results. Investigates special issues including rabies, radon, nuisance complaints, smoking in public, emergencies related to Public Health, West Nile Virus/Eastern Equine Encephalitis, mosquito vector surveillance, and control measures as warranted. Provides public health and environmental laboratory services to local health departments, hospitals, medical care providers, managed care organizations, and residents throughout Western New York. Serves as the primary provider of laboratory testing for the Erie County Department of Health (ECDOH) and other local health departments' public health and environmental activities. Provides rapid test result turn-around time and offers a competitive fee schedule. Customized testing is negotiable and ECPHL staff are available for consultation. Environmental Health - Genesee County Health Department

Provides a wide variety of services essential to the health and well-being of all Genesee County Residents. Service areas include public water supply protection, community sanitation and food protection, private water and sewage disposal systems, realty subdivision plan review, public health nuisances, residential lead investigations, chemical emergencies, rabies investigations, and enforcement of both the Adolescent Tobacco Use and Prevention Act (ATUPA) and the NYS Clean Indoor Air Act (CIAA). The Environmental Health division also operates multiple anti-rabies immunization clinics annually to administer vaccines to domestic animals, including cats, dogs, and ferrets, in order to reduce the spread of the potentially life threatening disease.

BUREAU OF EPIDEMIOLOGY AND DISEASE CONTROL | SUFFOLK COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SERVICES - DIVISION OF PUBLIC HEALTH

Provides services to prevent the occurrence and spread of communicable disease. The Bureau maintains surveillance for each disease through investigation performed by experienced epidemiological staff. Surveillance activities include identifying patterns and clusters to find common source outbreaks and tracing chains of infection to their origin. The Bureau encourages recommended adult immunizations and provides regular MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) vaccination clinics for college students. The Bureau operates a Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Control Unit, investigating reported cases of Chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, and HIV/AIDS. The Unit initiates disease intervention strategies which include interview of the index patient, counseling and referrals as needed, contacts & partner notification and follow-up and investigation of possible clusters. Medical providers are contacted to ensure treatment is completed. Clinical staff are available 24 hours, seven days a week to respond to urgent public health disease inquiries or issues.

BUREAU OF SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED INFECTION (STI) & HIV CONTROL | NASSAU COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH

Offers services and testing for those who have HIV or an STI. Knowing your status helps you make health decisions to prevent getting or transmitting HIV or STIs. Treatment is available; it is important to start treatment as soon as possible after diagnosis to improve your overall health and decrease the risk of spreading illness to others. Confidential testing and treatment options are available at many local health care facilities, including community partners. Nassau County Department of Health offers services to persons with HIV or other STIs and their sexual or needle-sharing partners. Partner Services works with people to plan the best way to notify their sex and needle-sharing partners about their exposure to an STI or HIV. Partner Services is voluntary and confidential. In addition the Department of Health offers Ryan White HIV Services. The Ryan White Care Act is a federally funded grant to provide services for people living with HIV/AIDS in Nassau & Suffolk counties.
